The History Behind the Party

The original Bassment party started in NYC at a tiny spot called “King’s Cross” (which also happened to be the Slide back in the day, for those that remember). Mandy and Jools decided it was the perfect start to launch their new party there and simply based on the fact that the space was located on the lower level combined with their love for all things bass, they called the night “Bassment”.

The party attracted other DJs, artists and other primarily queer locals with like minds and before they knew it, they found themselves needing to move the party to a larger space. Enter the Monster, where history would be made with lineups such as Michael Magnan, Nita Aviance, Will Automagic, W Jeremy, Christy Love, Sammy Jo, Johnny Dynell, Gant Johnson, THE Lady Miss Kier and many more DJs and performers who made the place what it was - pure magic.

They also had some stellar hosts which helped create the magic - Edwin “Q-Raider”, Ricky Jones, Mykki Blanco, Xander, One-Half Nelson, Celso and Jamil, Lil Adam and many more.
